EYES OF HORROR

The city lights glimmered below as Pranav sat in his office on the 17th floor. Fingers running furiously on the keypad as the clock in his cabin struck 1. Hitting 'save' on the presentation he was working on, Pranav grabbed his car keys and laptop bag. Whistling to himself, he made his way towards the parking area in the basement. The cold, dark basement was quiet as all the other employees had returned to their abodes.

Pranav was extending his hand to open the door of his car when he felt that someone was breathing near his neck. He turned around but no one in near sight. Blaming his lack of sleep for the hallucination, he settled down on the driver's seat. He inserted the key into the ignition point and turned the key but the car did not start. He repeated this for three times but no result. Pranav's expressions turned from tired to confused. On the fourth try, the engine roared back to life and he began driving home. After about 5 mins of driving, the car stopped abruptly. The road was deserted, no one was around. Pranav started the car again with his eyes stuck on the road. That was when he saw a small boy standing in the middle of the road, he hit the brakes and the car stopped with a jerk. He looked ahead but the road was empty. He mumbled to himself, " I must be really tired to be hallucinating all these weird things." He began driving and he was just a turn away from home when he looked towards the rear-view mirror and he found a pair of white pupil-less eyes staring at him from the backseat. His hands lost control of the steering wheel but before his car could hit the tree, he turned the steering wheel and stopped the car. He looked back but found no one. Panting heavily and cautiously took out the keys and opened the door of his apartment. His hands were shaking and he was drenched in sweat. He opened his fridge, took out a water bottle and gulped down the liquid. Composing himself he freshened up and got inside his bedroom. Still shook from the previous incident, he switched off all the lights except for his bedside lamp. He lay in bed but sleep was far away. Looking around the room, his eyes fixated on a particular spot as his heart raced and his body shook. In the crook of the door, was standing that same boy with those haunting white pupil-less eyes. Before he could react, the boy pounced on him and Pranav's body froze.

Next day, the maid came and rang the doorbell of Pranav's apartment. After waiting for a few minutes, she noticed that the door was open. Turning the doorknob, she entered and walked towards the bedroom, but the scene in front of her made her scream out. Hearing this, the neighbours rushed in and gasped at the horrid scene.

Pranav's bloodied up body lay in bed as his eyes turned completely white and his chest bore the marks of the palms of a small kid.
